Soccer

(We meant to post this a few months ago, but unfortunately, it got lost in the shuffle.)  Sydney started soccer classes in late August.  She completed two 8-week sessions (August-October 2015 and October-December 2015) of “Soccer Tykes” at Boulder Indoor Soccer.  (We are currently taking a break from soccer to make time for new activities.)

When Sydney fist started soccer, she didn’t want to kick the ball with her feet.  She preferred to pick the ball up with her hands and run down the field.  Eventually, Sydney did use her feet to kick the ball, but her favorite part of soccer class had nothing to do with soccer.  She loved making “popcorn” by shaking a parachute with balloons on top and watching them “pop.”  Here are soccer photos from August-December 2015:

Initially, Sydney held the ball in her hands.  She didn’t want to put it down.  (September 2015)

And then… she put it down… and dribbled!  Yay!

Sydney liked the soccer stop (September 2015)

Clearly, a ball in the hands is more fun than ball on the ground

Favorite part of soccer class… “POPCORN!” Watch those balloons “pop!” (September 2015)

The obstacle course is fun too… running through hoops

Sydney enjoyed playing with the discs

Getting stamps (on her balloon) from coach Adam (at the end of class) was probably Sydney’s second favorite part of soccer class

It’s also really fun to make a HIGH tower (October 2015)

And, even more fun to knock it over!

Of the available colors (red, blue, green, and yellow), Sydney’s favorite color was yellow, so she sat on the yellow triangle for introductions (November 2015)

Green light means GO! Let’s GO… dribble!
